Professional and Business Men’s Club opens.

[1947] It is located at 543 Massachusetts Avenue. A private club for African-American doctors, lawyers and businessman, long-time owner and president John Bynoe describes it as “A place where you could get know something somebody that could be of help to you.” The “P&B” subsequently sponsors musical entertainment that is open to the public. Regular performers include Mae Arnette, called “Boston’s first lady of song,” and Al Vega, as well as Jimmy Green and Gordon Robinson. The club closes in 1987.
